LIBQUAL+ FAQs

What is LIBQUAL+?

LIBQUAL+ is customer satisfaction survey being used to gather your opinions about the campus library's building, resources, and services. The survey was developed by the Association of Research Libraries and this year the UOIT Library is participating along with 65 other Canadian academic libraries. The results of the survey will allow the libraries to evaluate their quality of service with peer institutions, identify gaps and make improvements.

How long does the survey take?

The entire survey takes about 10 minutes to complete.

How long will the survey be available?

The survey is available 24 x 7 until February 28, 2010

Why isn't the survey at a UOIT web address?

The Association of Research Libraries and Texas A & M University have prepared and coordinate the survey for all the libraries participating in the project. The survey and data are hosted on a secure server at Texas A & M University .

Why does the survey repeat similar questions?

This survey is based on SERVQUAL, a frequently used customer satisfaction survey tool. This survey tool uses statistical methods to ask participants about what they see as the existing level of service in comparison with their minimum level and desired levels for the same services.

Is it confidential?

All responses are completely confidential and demographic data is aggregated so that individual responses cannot be identified.

Are there incentives for completing the survey?

Yes, a drawing will be held from the names of all participants. Prizes include gift certificates to Future Shop, and Tim Horton's. To participate in the drawing you must provide your email address when asked for it on the survey. This information will be stored separately from your survey responses.

What happens with the survey results?

The survey results will be used to improve the library experience for our customers. A summary report of the survey results will be posted to the library website for students, faculty and staff access.
